UAAP Season 82 cancels amid COVID-19 pandemic

Due to the extended community quarantine in the entire Luzon, the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Board announced the cancellation of the league's 82nd season.

The circulated memo was brought upon after President Rodrigo Duterte extended the island-wide quarantine until April 30.

Among the affected sports are volleyball, beach volleyball, football, baseball, softball, athletics, lawn tennis, 3x3 basketball, and streetdance.

The memo has acknowledged people involved to the success of the latest season despite its cancellation.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank you, our fans, partners, student-athletes, coaches, and all other members of the UAAP community,” the memo read.

National Collegiate Athletic Association also terminated its 95th season last March 19, following the government’s declaration of public health emergency due to the contagion which put Metro Manila and eventually the whole of Luzon under ECQ.
