Tutok to win sa Wowowin host Willie Revillame expressed disappointment over a recent article published by news website Rappler with a headline which read, "Willie Revillame hijacks Roque press briefing to promote charity, GMA7 show".
On Friday, Willie made a surprise appearance at a press briefing to pledge P 5 million for the jeepney drivers who were displaced in time of coronavirus lockdown.
During the "Tutok To Win" episode on Monday, Willie explained that he did not "hijack" the press briefing that was held at WilTower. He clarified that Roque invited him to show himself on the media briefing so the secretary could personally thanked to him for providing them the venue for a press briefing.
At first he refused Roque's request because according to him it was not appropriate to show up since he is not a politician. Until he decided to accept the invitation of the secretary on Friday, August 7 for the last day of press briefing using WilTower venue.
“Bumalik sila last Friday, nung last Friday po sabi niya, ‘Baka huling na naming itong araw, pwede bang lumabas ka lang para lang mapasalamatan kita ng personal’,” he explained.
"Yung pagbibigay ko ng 5 million galing po ‘iyon sa sarili ko, pinagsikapan ko pinaghirapan ko, ‘yun po ay galing sa akin at hindi po alam ni Secretary Harry Roque at Governor Jonvic Remulla at ng buong taga Malacanang na nandito, wala.. naisip ko lang po ‘yun,” he continued.
"Eh parang napasama pa ako sa iba, na parang nagbuhat pa ako ng bangko ko, parang nagyabang pa ako. Hindi ko po maintindihan kung bakit may mga ganyang klaseng tao," he complained.
“Ang alam ko, ang hijack may hino-hostage ka, may dala kang armas. Ang ibig kong sabihin, hindi maganda ang pagkakasulat. Ang sabi hi-nijack ko ‘raw ang programang iyon. I was invited by the secretary,” the TV host explained.
He ended up his statement with advised to Rañada, “Sana sa pagsulat mo alamin mo ang istorya, kaya kayo nasasabihang fake news kayo ‘eh. Hindi totoo ang sinasabi mo. Never akong mangha-hijack,”.
