Viral nurse who helped homeless woman give birth is a leukemia survivor

A viral nurse who was praised online for helping a homeless woman gave birth on the street in Makati is a cancer survivor.

After she went viral on social media, Lorraine Pingol has an amazing story to tell. In a report from "24 Oras," Pingol said she was diagnosed with leukemia in 2013.

"Nung time na na-diagnose ako, maraming tumulong sa akin," she said. "Kaya that's one reason na rin kung bakit bukas-palad din akong tumutulong pagka may nangangailangan as long as kaya ko."

Due to her health status, she chose to let go hospital job and work as a nurse at a health insurance company.

Pingol recalled and admitted that she feel nervous about helping a woman that time because it has been awhile since she last attended to a birth.

"Inalala ako lang 'yung natutunan ko nung college tsaka 'yung naranasan ko sa delivery room sa ospital way back years ago," she said.
